Following our weekly labour news update, RFR interviews Kendra Coulter, a professor of labour studies at Brock University, who is researching retail work and retail workers’ political action. She recently launched the website Revolutionizing Retail to encourage discussion about strategies for making retail jobs into better jobs and for building retail workers’ power. We also discuss the recent Target takeover of Zellers and the closure of remaining Zellers stores by the Hudson’s Bay Company, resulting in 6400 jobs lost.

This week’s show also includes a quick overview of the newly released proposal for the merger of the CAW and CEP. There’ll be more on the proposed merger next week.
