This week’s show features an interview with George Smith, an Adjunct Professor in the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University. Mr. Smith has been widely cited in the press as a critic of the federal government’s use of back-to-work legislation in the case of Air Canada and Canadian Pacific Rail. In addition to his appointment at Queen’s University as an expert in industrial relations, Mr. Smith has held numerous executive postings, most recently as Senior Vice-President at CBC/Radio Canada. Before that, he held senior roles as VP of Industrial Relations with CP Rail, and Senior Director of Employee Relations at Air Canada, before and after its privatization. Smith’s May 31, 2012 testimony at a Senate Committee hearing on the government’s back-to-work legislation can be found here.

As always, Rank and File Radio airs Wednesdays, 5:30pm EST on CFRC 101.9FM in Kingston, Ontario.
